Filipino Tayo was founded by Teacher Cristta with a heartfelt mission: to help third culture kids reconnect with their roots, strengthen their cultural identity, and take pride in the rich heritage passed down by their Filipino families. As a mother and an immigrant living far away from home, she understands how important it is for children to feel connected to their culture and to experience a sense of “home” wherever they are in the world.

The name Filipino Tayo reflects our inclusive approach—“Filipino” represents the mix of native languages, cultures, and traditions across the Philippines, and “Tayo” means “we/us”, symbolizing community, togetherness, and belonging. Our classes are open to families everywhere—regardless of age or background—so that more people can discover the joy of learning Tagalog and the beauty of the Filipino culture.

At Filipino Tayo, we offer interactive online classes designed to spark curiosity, nurture confidence, and inspire a genuine love for the Filipino language, traditions, and history. Through fun, meaningful, and engaging learning experiences, kids and adults alike are encouraged to celebrate their heritage, build confidence, and feel proud of their Filipino identity.

Meet Teacher Cristta

Teacher Cristta is a certified educator from the Philippines, currently residing in the Netherlands with her Filipino husband and their son. She was born and raised in Lucena City, Quezon, where Tagalog is the primary language. Coming from a family of teachers, she has been passionate about education and developed a deep love for languages from an early age.

She earned her Bachelor's degree in English Studies (major in Language) from the University of the Philippines–Diliman. She also studied Master of Arts in Educational Psychology. She passed the board exams for Professional Teachers in the Philippines in 2016.

Her teaching experience in a primary school further fueled her passion for helping students connect with language and culture. She also co-managed a tutorial center in the Philippines and provided group as well as 1-on-1 lessons to students on different subjects. She tutored students of all ages, gaining invaluable experience in creating lessons that are engaging and meaningful. 

She is fluent in Filipino and English and a native speaker of Tagalog. She also has basic knowledge of French and Dutch. She loves learning new languages as much as teaching them. She is enthusiastic about sharing the beauty of the Filipino language and culture with families around the world. Tara, Filipino tayo!
