Sama-Sama: A Filipino Book and Play Club is a volunteer organization in the Netherlands that brings children and families together to celebrate and promote Filipino culture through stories, songs, games, and fun activities. Its mission is to provide an inclusive space where children can enjoy learning and connecting with others while developing a deeper appreciation for our Filipino heritage.

Can you believe Sama-Sama is turning two? To celebrate, we are rolling out the red carpet for a Filipino community gathering and a private screening of DreamWorks' highly anticipated new film, Forgotten Island !

For us, this event is more than simply watching an animated film together. We want to show how culture travels and empower our children by seeing ourselves represented in film and experiencing it together as a community. It is a way to remember and be proud of where we come from, and to recognize how we carry pieces of home with us even when we live far away from the Philippines.
We invite everyone, kids and adults alike, to watch, enjoy, and perhaps rediscover some of the stories that are part of who we are and our identities. Tara, Sama-sama tayo! 🇵🇭

What age is this event for?
The event is family-friendly and designed to be enjoyed by all ages—from toddlers to grandparents! For the movie, parental guidance (PG) is advised.
Why is the ticket price the same for all ages?
Ticket prices are the same for adults and kids to help cover the full event cost and make it a memorable family experience. We've reserved the cinema exclusively for us, with a special program and a Filipino-themed souvenir for everyone. We're not making a profit from this—just putting together a fun, community event for everyone, especially the kids!
Are snacks and drinks included?
No. You can easily purchase your favorite popcorn, drinks, and snacks at the Kinepolis concession stands before heading into our private hall. Please note that Kinepolis does not allow outside food or drinks in their auditoriums for safety, cleanliness, and business reasons.
Can we choose seats for the movie?
The seats are first-come, first-served. We encourage you to come on time to enjoy the whole event.
In what language will the movie be?
The movie will be screened in English with Dutch subtitles so the whole family can follow along and enjoy every magical moment together!
